Chatei Hatou has poured hand-drip and siphon coffee in the same moody, antique-filled room since 1989, just minutes from Shibuya's Hachiko crossing.
The craft is unhurried — coffee is weighed, brewed and served with a formality that borders on ceremony — and the interior, all dark wood and stained glass, feels like stepping out of Shibuya entirely.
One of the clearest examples of what a serious old-school kissaten still offers that a modern specialty bar doesn't.
